Overview
Townsend Sixth Form is a friendly and vibrant community that develops skilled and educated young people who are prepared for adult and working life. It is open to any student who meets our entry requirements, regardless of where they live or which school they have attended previously. Townsend Sixth Form cultivates an environment that enables and encourages all students to reach their full potential and provides support and guidance for you to be able to do this. An enriched curriculum offered inside and outside the classroom, ensures that Townsend Sixth Formers grow into responsible, wholesome and well rounded caring adults.
Our small class sizes enable excellent relationships between staff and students. Students think for themselves, beyond the curriculum, and extend their learning, but they know that their teachers are always there for them if they need help and guidance. Rapport between staff and students is excellent, students have access to a wide network of support from our experienced and knowledgeable staff, to deepen knowledge further, our Sixth Form is supported by our excellent Super Curriculum, to engage and enthuse students during independent study.
Townsend Sixth Form will prepare and educate students for the next steps in their lives, whether that be into further education at University or college, for an apprenticeship or degree apprenticeship or into employment. Preparation for applying to the top Universities, your dream job or your favoured apprenticeship, starts early, and you will have support every step of the way. Resources & Facilities
Townsend Sixth Form students benefit from the use of a dedicated and exclusive Sixth Form Centre. This separate wing of the school has been designed to provide Sixth Form students with the best possible working environment.
Entering into the lobby, where students can find Post-18 information as well as up to date school information. Within the centre students can make use of the silent study room equipped with desktop computers, Chromebooks, individual working desks and study pods, as well as access to wireless Internet access where students can bring their own device, providing a comfortable work space where they can study independently.
This is complemented by a suite of classrooms and smaller meeting rooms exclusively for Sixth Form students. The large Sixth Form Hub with soft seating and fully equipped kitchen area provides the perfect space for students to socialise and take a break from all their hard work. There is an outdoor courtyard with picnic benches and patio tables, along with a table tennis table for students to enjoy during the summer months. Students also benefit from a private Sixth Form car park.
Every student in Sixth Form at Townsend will receive an IPAD for their learning throughout the 2 years here.
