The Marlborough Science Academy

Overview

Our Sixth Form is a vibrant community noted for its excellent teaching and learning and the exceptional progress made by all its students.  It also has a valuable role to play within the school and local community and we are very proud of the diversity of destinations and careers that our students are able to achieve after their time with us.  An aspirational culture prevails throughout and our provision, in terms of variety and depth, has been recognised for its quality of delivery nationwide.

Our Post 16 students have excellent attitudes towards their learning and are positive role models for years 7 to 11. Although our main focus is on ensuring that our students achieve the very best results we also provide enrichment programmes and high quality care, guidance and support to ensure that our students benefit from a well-rounded and nurturing Sixth Form education whatever their chosen pathway.

Facilities & Resources

The Sixth Form has its own area which is equipped with laptops and computers and is fully supervised throughout the day to enable private study. There is also a good old-fashioned ‘tuck shop’ which is highly popular with students looking for that extra bit of energy to get them through the day.  Our greatest resource is our teaching staff; they are an outstanding body of practitioners who deliver high quality lessons noted by Ofsted ’14 in terms of the quality of delivery, skill, passion and flair.

Our Learning Resource area is fully equipped with the resources you would expect to support learning and through the student parliament our students are able to influence operational decisions relating to the Sixth Form.

Specialist Areas

We are proud of teaching in all areas and we ensure that the finest staff are recruited to engage and inspire our students throughout all of our courses but we have particular areas of strength which include the Sciences, Psychology and the Arts including Media and Film Studies.  All our courses are supplemented by enrichment activities including trips to New York, Berlin, the Houses of Parliament, art galleries and equivalent.  Our students are encouraged to be independent and innovative.  We have also celebrated great success with Young Enterprise competitions and volunteering such as V-inspired, and our students visit local primary schools delivering and supporting lessons for the more able whilst also running assemblies and sports leadership programmes across all year groups.
