Townsend Church of England School

Overview

Our Sixth Form offers students an excellent education with outstanding facilities and specialist subject teachers. We cater for a wide range of students and regularly review our curriculum offer to meet the needs of students who apply to our sixth form. Many of our students regularly achieve examination results above their target levels. The majority of our students have aspirations to go on to higher education and study to degree level, whilst others wish to improve their qualifications before pursuing other courses at college, applying for apprenticeships or seeking employment.  Even if students are unsure about what they want to do, staying on to improve their qualifications certainly provides them with more choices in the future and we do everything that we can to support them.

We offer far more than qualifications; we provide significant careers information and guidance, support with applications to college, university and apprenticeships as well as helping students to develop a wide range of transferable skills. We encourage students to take on responsibilities and as part of this we provide them with opportunities to contribute to the school. Our students enjoy these opportunities and act as exemplary role models to our younger students which helps to uphold the ethos and values of the school.

Facilities & Resources

Our students benefit from the use of a dedicated Sixth Form Centre.  This separate wing of the school has been designed to provide Sixth Form students with the best possible working environment.  A study room equipped with desktop computers as well as wireless Internet access provides a comfortable work space where they can study independently.  This is complemented by a suite of classrooms and smaller meeting rooms exclusively for Sixth Form students.  The large Sixth Form common room with soft seating and kitchen area provides the perfect space for them to socialise and take a break from all their hard work.
