Student Life
Life for the students in our consortium involves a wide range of opportunities and experiences available to them both academically and with extra curricular activities. Not only can students participate in extracurricular activities in their home school they also can take part in ones run by the additional schools within the partnership they attend. The options available to take part in comes in a huge variety such as a variety of sports or leadership roles. This allows the students to gain enrichment in areas that they feel will compliment their education or future most, whether this being activities that give them experiences they can add to their CV or activities that help maintain their well being throughout their studies.
A part of student life is the facilities students have access to. Being Post 16 gives students access to a variety of facilities across our partnership. This ranges from different catering facilities to quiet study areas. The facilities available help provide our students with an environment that benefits their independent education as well as providing them areas to socialise with friends. The balance between academic and social resources helps our students to develop into well rounded individuals. Not only do they have access to well equipped sixth form centres for outside of their lessons they also benefit from state-of-the-art facilities and outstanding technological resources that support and enhance learning in every subject.
All students who access our consortium have full access to all resources, as well as becoming fully part of the student experience. Students are encouraged to lead on consortium events for the community, as well as performances, speakers and much more.
The Benefits of Consorting between STAGS and Samuel Ryder Academy
"I consort from STAGS to Samuel Ryder in order to do one of my A-level subjects, Media Studies. This means that I travel to Samuel Ryder, three days a week when I have lessons, this transportation is facilitated by the school during the allocated times. I really enjoy consorting as it allows me to take all of the subjects that I wanted to take without having to sacrifice my home school, STAGS. I’ve also been able to meet lots of new people and I think that both my teachers at STAGS and SRA have been brilliant at introducing this concept to me and have been flexible if I’ve missed a couple of minutes of the lesson due to traffic. I have a school log-in at SRA and am considered as a Samuel Ryder student when I am there. Before learning more about consorting, I was worried that being at another school for one of my subjects would mean I wouldn’t be considered as a proper STAGS student, but that couldn’t be further from the truth! Due to the flexibility of STAGS Sixth, I’ve been able to be involved in extracurricular activities, be part of the student leadership team and still be a full time STAGS student. I would strongly recommend consorting if the subject you want to do isn’t available at STAGS"
